Elden Ring: Invisible Enemies PC bug troubleshooter

Elden Ring is finally available, and once you’ve gotten started we’ve got loads of guides to help you on your way, including the best Keepsake to choose, tips to get you started, and guides for those big early bosses like Margit and Patches – once you’ve learned to level up, of course.

But you will struggle to get even that far if you can’t see the enemies in front of you. We’ve seen complaints about invisible enemies in Elden Ring – believe us, it’s not supposed to be that way for a long time. Luckily we’ve already seen these issues fixed, and you can find out how you can do the same in this guide.

GPU or Integrated Graphics?

This is the first thing you should check. Elden Ring has updates coming to the PC and console versions very soon, but it has a few issues at launch. If you’re not able to see enemies at all in Elden Ring, the first thing you should do is check whether your PC is using your integrated CPU graphics, or your dedicated GPU. If it’s using your integrated CPU, this is a likely problem to have.

You can force your GPU to kick in with the Nvidia or AMD settings on your PC, depending on what brand GPU you’re using.

If you only have access to integrated graphics, we do not recommend attempting to play Elden Ring on your machine, at least not until the bug is fixed with a proper patch.

GPU driver update

Make sure your GPU is up to date. Sounds like an obvious step, but you’d be surprised at how many GPU updates you’ll miss if you don’t check semi-regularly. Skip one notification, and you’ll be multiple steps behind before you know it.

Steam file integrity check

If you have the game installed on PC via Steam, make sure to check the file integrity. You can do this by looking at the game in the library. It may prompt for a full or partial reinstall, in the worst-case scenario.

Restart

Yeah, this is the obvious one, but have you tried restarting the game, or even your whole PC? When you do boot back in, make sure you’re using the right GPU again!
