The heartbreaking reason Sunday's 'Ballers' was realistic, according to Greg Jennings

(Very recently) retired wide receiver Greg Jennings will chat with For The Win each week to discuss what’s real and what’s fake on HBO’s Ballers.

1. New Orleans pulling Ricky Jerret's offer because of his dad's tweet

When it comes to a contract, I'm not sure how realistic that is, I'm not sure how much a family member can affect a deal being done. But I have experience with family members tweeting and one thing I will say is it's something that will directly impact and affects a player. As far as a deal not going through, I'm not sure how realistic that would be. But how it directly impacts a player, absolutely. The family member doesn't get the brunt of what the player would get and the player -- like in Ricky's instance -- he had no clue what took place, he never knew about it.

But at the end of the day, he takes the hit for something that he didn't do and it happens quite often when it comes to family members being disgruntled on playing time or their family member not being as involved in the game plan or whatever it may be so they'll tweet and then the media picks up on it and you're bombarded with all these questions about something that you had no idea about, your PR team is coming up to you trying to give you a heads up on what's taking place and it's just not good for the players. It definitely happens all the time -- more than it should.

2. The prospect who didn't want to go to the combine -- is that something players think is pointless?

Oh yeah, there's still a lot of guys -- most go to the Combine though, even if it's just simply to engage in the one-on-ones with the teams. Take all the meetings and do the physical and things of that nature but on-the-field workouts, guys will opt out of that and wait for their pro day. But not a lot of guys won't go with the Combine at all. It's a comfort thing, a lot of guys are more comfortable training where they've always trained and don't want to have a potential that knock of performance that will result in a drop in the draft status.

3. When Charles had to cut the Dolphins player and then didn't do it so the GM did it and he flipped out at his kid's birthday party

There is a grim reaper in every organization that has to come through and deliver the news. And it is funny when you see them in the locker room, everybody's kind of looking like 'where are they going.' It's an unfortunate deal because you'd like it to come from the top but everyone has a job to do and Charles was put into a position where he had just gotten done playing with this guy and it was an uncomfortable situation.

But the response and reaction of the [player] getting released, I don't know how realistic that is. I can't relate to that -- I can relate to being released from a team -- but again, it's all about who you are as a person and how you feel about moving forward and whether you're going to embrace it or not.

Obviously he was distraught by it and taken aback by it because he has a lot going on. And that's unfortunate. A lot of guys -- I've had situations where I just added on to a home in Green Bay and my deal was up and I knew my deal was going to be up and I kind of assumed I would be a Packer for life. You can't assume in this industry that anything is guaranteed because nothing is.

4. The rival agent trying to steal Joe from The Rock's team

I would stay what is realistic is agents acquiring other agents, that stealing of talent. If you go behind the back of an agent, that is reality in the industry of agents. That's kind of shady business. I mean not all are that way but they are definitely things that transpire in that industry that shouldn't take place.
